Fleio version 2020.12.0 is now available in beta and you can test it in your lab environment, since this release is not recommended for production.

You can read more about our release model here.

With the latest release we would like to announce that we have implemented Swift object store user interface.

With the 2020.12 version your enduser will be able to Create, Read, Update and Destroy swift containers. CRUD operations are also available for files and folders within swift containers.

Note that if you want to use swift object store you will have to enable the angular end user in settings.py, by following this guide.

In a future release we will work on implement file upload streaming for swift objects.

Automated Let’s Encrypt SSL in docker install

In 2020.12.0 we continued working on Fleio – Docker integration. We are proud to announce that with the latest version we have added SSL support for docker installations.

The SSL certificate will be issued by Let’s Encrypt. Note that to be able to obtain a SSL certificate you will need to use a fully qualified domain name with proper DNS configuration. The domain needs to publicly resolve to the IP of the server where you will install Fleio with docker so Let’s Encrypt can verify if your domain qulifies for a SSL certificate.

Besides that we are also offering the option to choose a self signed certificate, or no certificate at all.

Angular frontend for enduser

With 2020.12.0 we have also started working on adding the final piece to the angular migration: the end user frontend

By default the angular frontend for enduser is disabled for now since it’s still in the first iterations. If you want to enable it you can follow these steps.

Note that if you want to use swift object store you will have to enable the enduser angular frontend.

Show periodic task duration

In the latest release we have changed the way that the periodic task duration time was displayed. Before this change we had the start date and time, and the end date and time. Since these tasks usually last between a few seconds and a few minutes, these time representations were not really displayed in the best way.

With the latest updates we have changed this to a better to read representation

And more

We have also added lots of smaller improvements in the 2020.12.0 realease. Some of the most notable ones are:

  • Allow delete and recreate record from a DNS zone in a single update
  • Add option Every other day to instances backup schedules
  • Allow more verbose logs for logging openstack events feature
  • Add –debug to install and fleio scripts
  • Improved profile notifications page

We’ll talk about some of the other features in the stable release, 2020.12.1, which should be out in about one week.

In the meanwhile, see a complete list of changes in the https://fleio.com/docs/changelog/v2020.12.0.html.

Swift integration is sponsored by Binero, a Swedish cloud provider and an important OpenStack contributor.

Sponsored development is a good way to have your desired feature quicker in Fleio for a one-time payment. We accept sponsored features that make sense for a broad audience. We take over the sponsored feature providing future updates and support.
